From Survival to Significance: A Mother-Daughter Journey in Financial Empowerment
In every business, there are stories. But some are more than stories—they are legacies in motion. This is the story of Baby Rose and Sheene, a mother and daughter who built more than a career in financial education. Together, they built a mission; Financial Education for All.
🌱 From Humble Beginnings: Baby Rose’s Journey
Before she became the heart of a financial literacy movement, Rose was a relentless dreamer in the Philippines. She ran a sari-sari store and a seafood restaurant, worked as a sales clerk in SM Megamall, and despite loving the sparkle of jewelry and makeup, she felt unfulfilled. She quit—not because she couldn’t handle it, but because she knew she was meant for more.
Her journey took her to China, where she took a chance as a Gymboree teacher, pouring her last savings into a visa and application. She was hired, trained in Shanghai, and eventually launched her own early childhood education and English language center. Fifteen years in China prepared her for the next chapter—immigrating to the United States on August 16, 2016, where her real mission began.
To those who know her best, Rose is more than just a dreamer and a doer—she is workaholic, loving, helpful, and humble. These qualities have guided her every step of the way, shaping the woman behind the success of her team.
👩👧 A New Chapter: Sheene’s First Steps
When Sheene moved to the U.S. in December 2019, she had no work experience. A full-time student in the Philippines and China, she was used to the home-to-school routine. Work? That was new territory.
Her introduction to the business world? Tagging along with her mom. “She brought me everywhere,” Sheene says. What started as helping with her mom’s paperwork (her mom's self-confessed weakness) turned into early mornings and midnight office hours. At first, it felt “boring.” But soon, Sheene found her rhythm—and her purpose. A tag-team, born that can spark the dream for others.
🧠 From Uncertainty to Understanding
The more they worked, the more Rose and Sheene realized what they had stepped into. “As new immigrants, nobody would’ve taught us how money works and about financial tools or retirement,” they said. But now? “We feel empowered. We have access to tools that can truly change lives—including ours.”
Much of that transformation, they credit to their involvement with World System Builder (WSB) and World Financial Group (WFG). “Being part of WSB and WFG isn’t just about learning—it’s about being part of a mission-driven community, with their free Financial Literacy campaign, workshops, and webinars.” Rose shared. “These organizations believe in financial education for everyone. That mindset is what changed everything for us. Helping people to be educated.”
Sheene became an intern as a tax preparer, working with low- to medium-income families where every dollar matters. She said, “Helping people get a couple dollars back on their tax return might not seem big—but for them, it’s everything. And it reminds me how blessed and grateful we are to be in WSB/WFG.”
Through WSB and WFG, Rose and Sheene found not only guidance but also a platform to help others rise. “When you're part of something that’s bigger than yourself—something built on education, empowerment, discipline, and service—you begin to see that real financial freedom is possible. And now, we’re helping to do the same.”
💪 Lessons From Each Other
Working together hasn’t always been easy. “It’s a rollercoaster of emotions,” Sheene admits. But it’s clear that their bond runs deep. “We’re working towards the same goal,” she says.
For Rose, her daughter is not just a helper but a reflection of her grit. As Rose mentioned “Sheene is one of my rocks, she helped me with the things I’m not good at and helped me stay afloat everyday”. And for Sheene, Rose is her role model. “The best thing about my mom? She’s selfless. And the most important thing I learned from her? To be ambitious. Never settle for less.”
🌍 Why Financial Education?
For both Rose and Sheene, financial education is more than business—it’s a movement. “It’s something schools never teach,” Sheene explains. That’s why they’re committed to offering free financial education workshops, making sure every family—regardless of income—has access to the knowledge that can lift them out of debt and into financial freedom.
🔮 The Vision Ahead
Whether it’s helping young immigrants, struggling parents, or anyone eager to break free from financial stress, Rose and Sheene share a unified vision: to live what they teach and to create a team that reflects the values they believe in—ambition, discipline, resilience, and service.
They put it simply: “We want to be a good example of what we’re preaching.” And they see themselves not just as licensed financial professionals, but as a bridge for others to access the same tools and transformation and be the light at the end of the tunnel.
